This year, Frederique Constant is introducing its new Runabout RHS Chronograph Automatic model in honour of this collaboration and available in two limited series each composed of 2,888 pieces. In 2009, the two entities came closer together, giving rise to a continued partnership, the fruit of which can be seen in the Runabout collection. This legendary yacht, the first examples of which were made by hand entirely out of wood, embodied the easy-going Italian way of life from the 20s to the 60s. Meanwhile, on Italian shores, an association was set up to celebrate La Dolce Vita by preserving the famous Riva. In 1988, over 30 years ago, a young and independent family company was established in Geneva, the heart of the Swiss watch industry. Each reference is limited to 2,888 pieces. Would-be wearers can choose from two dial hues, grey or silver. Both models feature a tri-compax dial layout, a guilloché-style dial decoration, a 42mm steel case and an automatic movement. Riva, the upscale Italian yacht manufacturer, makes large superyachts but it is perhaps best known for its classical wooden motorboats, often seen gracing the shores of Italian lakes such as Como, Garda and Maggiore. The Genevan company has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Riva Historical Society. Now, the brand has created two limited-edition watches in association with the Riva Historical Society. For example, the firm has produced Austin Healey themed watches, perfectly in-tune with open-top motoring. It repeatedly engages with those individuals with hedonistic tendencies. The brand’s slogan, ‘Live your passion’ is at the heart of the company’s culture. To date, Frederique Constant has developed 29 Manufacture movements and currently sells its products via 3,000 points of sale. Most remarkably, the Genevan marque has democratised ‘high complications’ such as the perpetual calendar and tourbillon.
Over the years, the Maison, operating from a modern Manufacture, has repeatedly shown its watchmaking prowess, releasing numerous timepieces, some equipped with complications. Indeed, it is the quality-price ratio that has attracted vast numbers of discerning clients to the brand’s timepieces. From the outset, the founders of the company, Aletta and Peter Stas, have continuously strived to deliver both quality and affordability.
